This is lovely. I'm sure your Grandma would be surprised, and very pleased, to know that you were sharing her favourite song with people across the globe. She wouldn't miss that Yakult drink at all. "The future as thin as a cicada's wing" - how beautiful. How true.🙏

You are really kind. I'm grateful for your supportive words, Debbie! Yes, the lyrics are beautiful as they are written by the talented 方文山。In that song, he also wrote 芙蓉水面採 船行影猶在 lotus on the water surface, boat has sailed yet the shadows remain.

beautiful song. The Chinese language is so full of beauty. The culture of poetry and song is too. I wish more people knew of that, instead of worrying about tariffs and trade. If they read poetry, maybe they'd be better at the trading and tariffs.

Sakura is my favorite—it always marks the start of spring yet leaves so quickly that I thought I might have dreamed it. I remind myself daily to enjoy the last of them as each tree blooms and sheds.

I love that grandma gets to have a meal with you.

And yes Kyoto is certainly a crowd's favorite, and it deserves it. I backpacked in Japan once for 40 days — Kyoto was up there among my favorites but my stronger memories were of Yakushima and Takayama. ❤️

Thanks, Rachel. Yes, we can strive while we can also learn to enjoy this very moment. Amazing you backpacked Japan for 40 days! Also have never been to the two other places you mentioned. Would love to hear more.
