Appreciated this glimpse at a school in Japan! A lot similar with the private schools here in Shenzhen. And salmon for lunch is always going to be popular. 🙏🏻💖

Great! Similar, except in this case, this is a public school in Japan so all the more awe inspiring to me.

That’s so interesting about how the respect for food and nature is cultivated through meals. If only that was the same in UK! (With addition of being plant-based too!)

Thanks for reading, Olivia. Thinking of the same for Malaysia, where I'm from. The good thing is, more people now understand how important food is. It's now about translating such awareness into a desire to do better and to actually make the needed changes for our kids and the communities.

In the UK there is an organization called Taste Ed which works in schools to help educate children on food which is great but it seems like this should be part of the school’s approach not an add-on https://www.tasteeducation.com/

watched a video recently about a Japanese school chef. It was heart warming. The state of food and meals in Europe is concerning.

Reading this was so good. Was cheering along internally with each paragraph. Thanks for sharing this!

Thanks for reading and for cheering, Lucia! 'Heart warming' is a wonderful sentiment that conveys well how I feel about the 'omotenashi' culture so prevalent in Japan, from ryokan hotels to homes and in schools - respectful, thoughtful, mindful, aesthetically pleasing, caring, and so much more.
