another wonderful interview to your Conversations, Peck Gee. It would be great for all the independent journalists to band together - could you tell Nithin about @deepcutnews
here on Substack, an Australian collaboration of independent journalists. We need as a global community of life minded people to build connections from the ground up. Recreate our world. 🙏
Thank you for interviewing people who are striving to make a positive difference, Peck. Refreshing! 🌱
I liked your point about discussing ideas in their original language, because meaning is very time/culture specific. As a fellow traveler on the Way, you might enjoy my little essay about the word “meditation” and how it may not be the best translation of some veryimportant ideas:
Thanks, Baird! Nithin himself said "It's very to just focus on negative things all the time. But I wanted to write about the good things.". You're so right in highlighting that meaning is time/ culture specific.
Thanks also for sharing your relevant essay - been thinking a lot about that these days. The same word can mean so differently across different people!
This was a wonderful interview of an admirable journalist. It covered so many subjects that excite me: Japan, Southeast Asia, writing, intercultural communication, and the power imbalances in the world. A very positive development has been greater dialogue among Asians rather than directing attention to the West. I wish Nithin Coca well as he courageously confronts the obstacles in his path.
Thanks, Bill. Glad you enjoyed this interview. Will feature this month an Indonesia climate youth advocate- so stay tuned! Joining you in cheering for the courageous, unsung heroes in journalism.
What a story! Thank you for the article. Indeed it is so rare to find an article on Asia in major media (Western). It is great to learn that hope lies with young journalists!

Thanks, Debbie. Will relay to Nithin who has access to this post. Indeed, connections from the ground up is so much needed.

Beautiful, insightful and inspiring conversation!!! Thank you to bring him here and wishing that his community growth to reach more sustainable heart.
Thanks for your touching words and well wishes, Phuong Lam! I hope what he advocates for goes far in reaching so many more.

Thanks, Ruriko! Glad this resonated. Hopeful that one day the true voices of Asia will be more prominently featured across dominant platforms.
